BETTY NOIR

YA two-voice novel in prose(Betty)/verse(Noir) based on the French concept of the “black beast” or “bete noir”: the dark thing that lives inside and haunts. Betty, a sophomore golden girl is raped then learns to recognize/fight back against the beast inside with the help of a shy artist, Holden, who can see and draw the beasts in others, including Betty.

Perpetual slacker Simon travels to the wilds of Montana on a lark when he finds a clue to his ancestor's lost gold. With the help of a savvy local girl with a hidden agenda, he must outwit a crazed mountain man, drug smugglers, and the wilderness itself to find the gold and get out of there alive.
